This Privacy Policy describes how Fitz Doud (doing business as Prentiss) — “we,” “us,” or “our” — collects, uses, and shares your personal information when you use Prentiss, a private SMS assistant for small-business owners, or visit prentiss.ai.
After signing up and connecting their own business accounts (such as Jobber and QuickBooks), owners text questions about their own business — schedule, invoices, balances, and customers — and receive answers and occasional summaries by text message. We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us, namely:
We do not collect sensitive personal information (such as race, religion, health, or biometric data), and we do not collect information about you from third parties.
When you connect a business account (Jobber, QuickBooks), Prentiss reads your own business records on your behalf so it can answer your questions. That data belongs to you, is siloed to your account, and is never pooled with other customers or sold.
If you choose to make a payment, your payment details are handled and stored by our payment processor, Stripe. We do not store full card numbers ourselves. You can review Stripe’s privacy notice at https://stripe.com/privacy.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or share it for targeted advertising or profiling.
We may share your personal information only in these limited situations:
We have not sold or shared personal information for a business or commercial purpose, and we will not sell or share it in the future.
No mobile information — including your phone number and SMS opt-in or consent — is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text- messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties. We use your phone number only to operate the texting service you signed up for (sending the answers and account-related summaries you request, and supporting HELP and STOP).
Prentiss uses artificial intelligence to help understand your questions and phrase replies. We provide these AI features through a third-party AI service provider, Anthropic. Your messages may be shared with and processed by Anthropic to enable your use of these features. The specific facts in your answers (figures, balances, dates) are computed by our own deterministic code from your connected records — not invented by the AI.

When you connect your Google account, Prentiss requests read-only access to your Google Calendar (calendar.readonly) and Google Sheets (spreadsheets.readonly). We use this access solely to answer your own questions by text message:
This access is read-only: Prentiss never creates, edits, or deletes anything in your Google account. We read only what is needed to answer you, show it only to you (the authenticated owner) on your private line, and never sell it or use it for advertising. You can disconnect Google at any time, which revokes Prentiss’s access.
Prentiss’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use data obtained through Google APIs to develop, improve, or train generalized artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models. We may process it through service providers (such as our AI provider, Anthropic) solely to operate the features you request, under contracts that prohibit any other use.
We keep your personal information only for as long as you have an account with us, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law (such as tax or accounting requirements). When we no longer have a legitimate business need to process it, we will delete or anonymize it.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information — including encryption of the credentials you use to connect your accounts, and access over secure (HTTPS) connections. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. By using the Services, you confirm you are at least 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact hello@prentiss.ai and we will delete it.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, and to withdraw consent. Residents of certain US states (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Virginia, and others) may have additional rights. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@prentiss.ai. We will respond consistent with applicable law, and may need to verify your identity first.
Because there is no finalized industry standard for Do-Not-Track signals, we do not currently respond to them.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent changes. Material changes will be posted prominently or sent to you directly.
