These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Prentiss, a private SMS assistant operated by Fitz Doud (doing business as Prentiss) — “we,” “us,” or “our.” By signing up for or using Prentiss, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
Prentiss lets a business owner connect their own business accounts (such as Jobber and QuickBooks) and then text questions about their own business — schedule, invoices, balances, and customers — and receive answers and occasional summaries by text message. Prentiss is read-only: it reads your connected records to answer your questions and does not change, create, or delete records in your connected accounts.
You must be at least 18 and able to form a binding contract. You are responsible for the accounts and phone number you connect, for keeping access to them secure, and for all activity under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.
When you connect a service like Jobber or QuickBooks, you authorize Prentiss to access your data from that service on your behalf to provide the Services. Your use of those third-party services remains governed by their own terms. You can disconnect an account or ask us to delete your data at any time by emailing hello@prentiss.ai.

How you opt in: Opting in to text messages is voluntary and separate from creating an account — it is not required to sign up for Prentiss, connect your business accounts, or complete any transaction. You opt in at prentiss.ai/sms by entering your own mobile number and checking a consent box (unchecked by default) agreeing to receive recurring operational/account texts from Prentiss at that number. We only message owners who have personally opted in and provided their number — we never message anyone who has not opted in.
Message types: messages are operational and account-related — answers to questions you text us about your own business, and occasional summaries (such as a morning recap of your day’s jobs and any overdue invoices). We do not send marketing or promotional texts.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or to reach support, and STOP to opt out at any time. For help you can also email hello@prentiss.ai.
We do not share your phone number or mobile opt-in information with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Prentiss aims to answer using figures computed from your own connected records. Even so, the Services are provided for convenience and informational purposes. You are responsible for verifying anything important before relying on it for financial, legal, or business decisions. We are not your accountant, bookkeeper, or financial advisor.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information, and is incorporated into these Terms.
Prentiss is an early-stage service. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We may also update these Terms; if we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you.
The Services are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits or data, arising out of or related to your use of the Services.
You may stop using the Services and ask us to close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Services. On termination, we will deactivate or delete your account and data as described in our Privacy Policy.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict of laws rules.
